My OVERHAULIN' cars thread (lots of pics)

Post by RaceGameNut on Thu Feb 25, 2010 5:52 pm

I've been really wanting to recreate some OVERHAULIN' cars on MCLA for a while now including some cars that were only ideas on paper and never made it to the actual car that the Foose & the A Team were creating. I've loved this show since it came on and I really can relate to Foose's designs because other than a few minor differences (i.e. rim depths, spoiler options, different colored roofs), I have the same exact taste in cars. Anyway, I finally got to sit down and start working on them. Rolling Eyes I'm going to keep using this thread to list more as I go. Next up after this one will be the Gambler 514 Mustang which took a long time to get the right color but it's underway. I'm also about 90% complete on one of the SEMA Challenger designs that never made it on to the car (concept drawing) and am redoing the famous light green/silver/black Challenger. I'm going to put many hours into each car to hopefully have some of the best recreations on the game. Here's the first one completed, well, for now anyway. Smile

    1) This Chevelle is supposed to be Dominic's Monte Carlo (an early '70's Monte) This car is beautiful on the show and I put alot of time into making sure the colors look right. The pinstripe is a little more bold but that's because you can't really see it in the game if you make it too small. I chose the hood because it was the flattest one that still allowed the graphics on the hood and I really like the look of it, even though the real car just had a stock hood. The other thing I did was where it would say Monte Carlo above the rear quarter panel, I put a chrome simulated Overhaulin' emblem. I also experimented a little with trying to make some of the distinct Monte body lines but this is where there may be further work to it. All in all, I think it turned out pretty nice. Let me know that you guys think. Note: Not all the pictures have the Monte body lines.

    2nd set of pics:

1st: new in garage pics of the Monte (Chevelle). I'm just too much of a purist so I changed the hood even though the stripes don't go all the way down the front and made the pinstripe thinner like it is on the real car. I also made it somewhat readable now that it says Overhaulin' where the Monte Carlo emblem would go. I haven't done it yet but I did decide to, at some point, try to shade in the Monte Body lines in better. It's already done for the bottom but not anywhere else yet. I also changed the rear bumper so it didn't look completely like the stock Chevelle and put Bum Rush on the license plate (name of the episode). I've really been looking for a real picture of this car online but it's seeming impossible. I might just take a pic of my TV but not sure how that's gonna turn out. Any comments (good or bad) welcome. Smile

And finally at my favorite gas station at night. Cool

2nd: The SEMA episode Gambler 514 '70 boss Mustang. This car looks really easy and the graphics are but the paint, OMG, the paint, not fun at all. No It took me probably 2 hours or more total playing around with it to get it to what it is now in the garage which to me isn't quite perfect but I'm not sure how much closer I can get it. Razz It literally has a orangish tint behind the green which you'll see in the first pic of the real one. I don't really like the rims I have on it but they are the ones that look the closest IMO. Since I don't like '70 Mustangs as much as '69, don't like the rims, I think I'll do my own '69 version with the non-Boss side vents and all. Twisted Evil Again, ANY comments are welcome. Smile

please keep in mind, the lighting in the garage of that pic above, also I realize that I need to bring my suspension up one notch

And finally at my favorite gas station at night. Cool

Thanks guys, I appreciate the feedback. I should have the Gambler 514 Stang done today and I forgot I also have one almost done from a while back too from a '68 Firebird and the SEMA "Concept Drawing" car should also be done by tomorrow. Hmm, maybe should start an Overhaulin' garage...LOL! I need to mention too that Jade has done alot of these cars and they're great so check 'em out when you get a chance. Smile

I just added the final pics for the first two above. At night at my favorite gas station. Twisted Evil

Thanks again for all the feedback! Now it's on to remaking (started it before a long time ago but wasn't very good) the lime green/silver and black challenger and finish the SEMA concept drawing Challenger I'm almost done with. Here's the real ones.

Thanks & cool Brandon...hope all turns out well. I only made one famous F&tF car, Han's RX7.

To All - Just added a quick video clip of the Bumrush Overhaulin' Monte. I couldn't find any pics anywhere, I believe because it's a newer episode. Neutral Please keep in mind when comparing mine with the real one that the lighting in the real garage really brings out the blue in the car but without that lighting its sometimes almost gray. If you look at the final pic of it at the gas station at night you can see the blue more. Smile

Oh, and I actually was successful in making my own OVERHAULIN' garage save and was able to get all my cars from other game save garages into the new one including one I forgot I had that isn't finished quite yet. I'll post pics when I'm done with it.
