PS3 Online Camaro Club Chat Room

Post by JadeCat95 on Thu Sep 10, 2009 12:53 pm

Just wanted to let everyone know that this past weekend RGN had a great idea to help with people who don't have mics.

What we did was start a Text Chat chat room and invited everyone that was in the room into that chat. That way, those without mics could be "heard" by everyone in the room.

We would like to make this the "official" online chat room. For those that have never used the text chat, the nice thing about it is that once you're invited into it once, as long as you don't delete it, you can go back in any time you want. You only need to be invited once.

So once you've been invited, any time you are playing the game and are in a room with other Club members, be sure to also go back into the text chat. That way if anyone is in there without a mic, we'll all be in the same text chat to see what they are saying.

And remember that once you've been invited to that text chat, don't delete it when you're done. If you don't, it will still be there the next time you turn on your PS3. It will stay there until you delete it.

Thanks Jade, I've been wanting to post something about that but keep getting side-tracked.

There was another reason I wanted to offer this idea to PS3 club members too and this one is probably just as important as the above mentioned in room reason. (Not to leave out the XBox360 members but I have no idea how it's system works) As most of us I'm sure know, it doesn't matter where you are on the PS3 (in a room, in the garage on a different game or the XMB) if your online and joined the MCLA Camaro Club chat you will see the popups on your screen so you will be able to see what's going on and what other members are saying. The sole reason for this is so you can stay connected to what's going on with the Camaro Club and if you want to say anything its as simple as typing it in. There's no long process to get to the messaging system. This is not required but recommended so the members can stay connected.

This is the beauty of it IMO VVV

Here are all of the options that I've thought of for the chatting guidelines (not rules)
    1) You are not required to enter the chat room but it's recommended if you're interacting with other CC members.
    2) Like Jade said if you don't delete it, it will stay there and you can enter it whenever you want.
    3) If you want a private conversation with someone from the club or not from the club it's as simple as either starting or joining another chat or messaging that person(s).
    4) This is what I really love! You have the option of leaving the CC chat on and still be involved in the private chat without actually losing touch of what's going on with the CC as it will continue to popup but will clearly say "Camaro Club Chat". The other option is you can leave the CC chat room until you're done and join again when you're ready to.
    5) If you aren't wanting to be involved with the CC for some reason you always have the right to not accept the invitation or leave the chat whenever you want. For example, I left the chat room last night because I was working on my cars and it was getting in the way of my options for modifications so I left the chat for a short time then rejoined it.
    6) This is not a requirement just a recommendation for members to stay connected to what's going on. cheers

IMO there is only one major drawback but probably won't be a huge problem and that's the fact you can only invite 16 so if there is more than 16 we'll have to open another chat. I doubt that will happen though.
Here's what I would encourage and urge everyone to do when chatting. Again not rule(s) just a recommendation but very important in my eyes -

I believe one of the main reasons our club feels so much like a family is because of how we treat others and I was raised to think about other peoples interest before my own so I would encourage everyone to try to be considerate and not ignore anyone that's trying to talk. Like mentioned above, you can always make another chat if you are in a private conversation. I know nobody is perfect and I've made the mistake many times of leaving people out but I think as a successful club we should really try to be nice/considerate to others for the sake of the clubs well being. Also I might add, do your best to not ignore people that are talking to you in a room with a microphone. If quite a few people are in the chat at one time please understand it if you say something and want a response it might take a little bit but just try to be patient.

The other thing I would recommend and this is also important but pretty much common sense. Please be really careful not to talk about sensitive information about the Club or any of its members on the chat if there are non club members on it.

Sorry this is so long and I know most of you probably already know this stuff, I just wanted to make sure everyone knows the options. I'm not trying to make a rule or anything like that. I'm just trying to keep our club members connected with each other. There is already a room open that Corey opened called "Camaro Club Chat" so if your on look for the invite. If you haven't been invited but want to be we can arrange that. If you accidentally or otherwise delete it we can always invite you back. Smile

LOL, maybe it's because they are so frickin long that I want it to look as much like it's in sections as possible so people won't be discouraged to read it. I dunno. If it really bothers members than I can stop.
    Smile

    Workin' pretty well when used

Other than the invite issues and some members not using it (don't worry it's not required) it seems like the "Camaro Club Chat" is working pretty good to keep good communication between members.
    party
I know it gets a little confusing at times with a bunch of members on but it's a small price to pay to keep everyone informed and involved that wants to be IMO. Also once you're in a room and if a bunch of members have mics it won't be so confusing.

Again, its not required but recommended that if you already have been in that chat room, to not delete because you can join it at any time as long as you don't delete it. I'm going to stay devoted to that room and most likely will be in it if I'm on the game and maybe even if I'm not. If you try inviting me to a different chat room with other members in it (unless its for important reasons), I probably won't join it.

I'm only asking that we as a club try to stay using that room and not so much others if there's more than one member participating. Again, please don't misunderstand, it's not a requirement just a request. I've had some major chat invite issues but have been trying to keep inviting members I see on the game so if you get a chat invite please don't take it as I'm trying to bug you. I just want to include anyone who wants to be included.
    cheers
It's not my chat room, it's the club's and anyone that gets on before me can just rejoin it and invite other members so please, keep it going. I believe the original host is CC_Corey2788 of the room. If you did delete it just let us know and we'll try to get you back in.
    Very Happy

    Good posts all, RGN.

There's a couple things I'd like to add though.

    1) If you DO make another chat room, for private convo's or whatever, please don't name it "Camaro Club Chat". We have already established that room and having more than one makes it confusing as to which one to join.

    2) Please always keep in mind that we have some younger members who may be in the chat, or even older members who may not appreciate the language, so please try to keep the language clean. I know there is already a moderation of words that get 'beeped' (too many, in some cases), but I've also seen us get around that by spacing out the letters. When you're in the chat, type as though your kids are watching, or if you ARE a younger member, type as though your parents are watching. Because on someones screen, they might be.

    3) Please don't be offended or feel left out if you don't have a mic and you type something and get no response. It very well could be that it was missed in the online room. I know I've missed messages before. Maybe because of a race, or I wasn't looking at the TV at the time. So if you type something and don't get a response within a minute or so, try retyping it. It's a good possibility that it just got overlooked.

    4) If you are typing something to someone in particular, begin your sentence with "@ Jadecat" (or whoever you want to direct it to). This will let the chat room know who you are talking to.
